The ChadTough Foundation
The ChadTough Foundation is a cause near and dear to our hearts. As good friends of Jason and Tammi Carr, my wife, Shani, and I knew Chad from the time he was born. It devastated us when Chad was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) and given just 9-12 months to live.
We have watched Jason and Tammi take a tragedy and turn it into a movement. The mission of The ChadTough Foundation is to raise money and awareness for DIPG, which has been neglected for decades. They see this as an opportunity to go after one of the deadliest forms of cancer to not only make progress with DIPG, but as a trickle-down for all other cancers.
The Family Hope Fund
We learned that families were forgoing gas for their car because they had to purchase an inhaler, or they were purchasing half a prescription because they couldn’t afford the entire thing. Support for food, uncovered medical expenses, or utility bills can mean the difference between total despair and having the strength to cope.
The skilled social workers at Mott are able to assess the extent that a child’s illness has compromised the family’s well-being and to nominate those who will most benefit from Family Hope Fund assistance.
